Crisp, clean, youthful, fresh: adjectives that describe Paola Hernandez’s Spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. After studying fashion at Saint Martin’s in London and shoe design in Milan, NY-based designer Paola Hernandez launched her clothing label in 2006. Presented on the rooftop of Hotel Americano high above Chelsea, the presentation consisted of 12 models perched on daybeds by the pool.

Paola Hernandez stands for multi-functional options, updated classics, and separates that stand the test of time yet look chic and simple. According to the designer, “the vision for this collection comes from the search for the intersection between the physical and the spiritual. When the garments are worn, there is an organic flow from the fall of the fabric, which implies the shapeless elegance of the spiritual.” From a boxy, sheer white blouse and stretch shorts in coral, to a long tank dress in white cotton, a navy blue blazer paired with chalk blue chinos, and an airy blouse in light grey, it is clear that Hernandez’s collection is current yet boundless.

This collection delivers for the woman on the go, the woman who values a ‘no-fuss’ regimen, or those who appreciate a contemporary downtown look that is transitional while great for layering. In addition, Hernandez designs and produces her own shoe collection (including oxfords, moccasins, pumps) as well as small accessories which also accompanied the presentation on Friday.
