The Kahri by KahriAnne Kerr Spring 2012 fashion show was rocker chic meets downtown glam girl. As such, there was no better venue to host the fashion show and party on Friday night than celebrity hangout, 1 Oak. From seemingly frilly white sun dresses with eyelets and finished with leather bust detailing, to sheer blouses paired with metallic miniskirts, the Kahri spring offering captured every bit of the collection’s theme: Barracuda.
Inspired by the sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson of the 70’s rock band, Heart, Kahri offers a great mix of edgy, sharp, yet fun and wearable pieces. The color story was crisp white, beige with bursts of red, blue-green, metallic and silver. For 16 looks, there was a great deal of variety from daytime looks (a black crochet top with a plunging neckline and tassels paired with loose jean shorts), to chic early evening wear (a beige trench coat, cinched at the waist, that could double as a dress with flecks of gold yarn and dramatic Balmain-like shoulders), along with the showstopper looks which deserve an independent survey.
By far, my favorite look was the sheer taupe sweater with blue velvet capped sleeves paired with a dark metallic miniskirt that transitioned into a sheer chiffon skirt ending at mid-calf. Overall, the look screamed dramatic and stylish, youthful, but still rock inspired. A transitional sweater is perfect for spring so this was a chic take on this classic piece. I certainly look forward to seeing more from this emerging talent whose clothes have been worn by the likes of Keri Hilson, Fergie, Paris Hilton, and contestants from America’s Next Top Models.
