Esther BaxterWho is Esther Baxter? Esther Baxter is a model, actress, entrepreneur, and food blogger who got her start as a hip-hop video star. Baxter is also famous for her ill-fated relationship with rapper Joe Budden, who she accuses of physical abuse that led to a miscarriage in 2011. Born Sept. 24, 1984, the 5-foot, 7-inch Miami native made her name with rhymer Petey Pablo’s 2004 video “Freek-a-Leek.” She went on to appear in clips by such artists as Ludacris, Will Smith, Nelly and Kanye West, and in 2005, she won the VIBE award for Video Vixen of the Year.

Baxter also turned heads as a magazine cover girl, and at the peak of her modeling career, her curvaceous body graced the pages of XXL, which dubbed her “Eye Candy of the Year”; Smooth, which deemed her one of its “Top 100 Sexiest”; and King, among other publications. She might have continued as a model, but in 2007, at the age of 22, Baxter hung up her heels and bikinis and focused on raising her son, Cayden. She’s since turned her attention to acting, and as it turns out, that was a good decision.

Her big cinematic break came in 2009, when she landed a co-starring role in Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns.” A string of films has followed, and in 2012, she played the character of Maxine in “Because I Love You.”

“I got as far as I wanted to get [in modeling],” Baxter told Houston Press around the time of the film’s release. “Me not wanting to go back to it is because it would be the same thing; I have already done that — that is familiar waters and I know what I can do there. This is my passion now. This is something that I am very determined to do and succeed at.”

In 2011, Baxter grabbed the spotlight for another reason, as Budden released a song called “No Ordinary Love S— Pt. 3,” all about their love affair. Baxter responded by claiming that Budden had beaten her up and caused her to suffer a miscarriage.
