In 2000, Mike and the Gaints played against Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens in the XXXV Super Bowl but came up short (and by short, I mean losing handily by the score of 34–7). However Strahan got a second chance in the XLII Super Bowl in which the Giants played against the undefeated New England Patriots. It was considered one of the biggest upsets in sports history when the Giants won Super Bowl XLII 17-14 giving Mike a Super Bowl championship in his last NFL game.
