Apologies if the headline was a bit…much, but dammit, it’s the truth!
Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and others teamed up with Code.org for a five-minute promotional video to encourage and explain the awesomeness of computer programming. The non-profit organization is dedicated to increasing computer education.
“You don’t have to be a genius to learn how to code. You just have to be determined,” said Vanessa Hurst, co-founder of Girl Develop IT, a non-profit organization designed to help women learn computer programming.
In the video, which garnered close to 4 million YouTube views, some of the world’s most successful and famous computer programmers talked about their humble beginnings and how it’s changed their lives. Miami Heat Power Forward Chris Bosh, who learned coding in college and Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am, both bonafide nerds, boast about the power of programming.
As a certified geek myself, I can wax poetic for days about this video, but to save us both time, just push play.
