Irrational fears are a natural part of life. They are reminders to consider boundaries, look over rules, pay attention to societal pressures and, most importantly, to keep you from getting yourself killed.

You can, also, respectively break the hell out of ‘em. They are, of course, IRRATIONAL fears. They exist to be regarded, considered and, most likely, ignored.

There is nothing to be afraid of in Black men dating any woman, let alone a white one. But even in 2013 there still seems to be a stigma attached to the Black male/white female relationship. Look for a representative couple at a grocery store and watch the people around them, all races, regarding them closely. It’s bizarre.

Hence, this is where these irrational fears come from. Let’s call them out.

1. She won’t understand your situation.

Being Black in America still isn’t where it needs to be, but it’s waaaaay better than 50 years ago. Thinking that a white girl can’t recognize the plight of a Black American in this society is bunk. Being treated like s*** is universal. And with women still earning less per hour than the average white male she may have more perspective than you think.
